Paying welfare back would be impossible for most folks, even if they managed to land a middle class job for the rest of their lives.

I know that there are a lot of people who really do need government assistance (thanks Obama) but it pisses me off that a lot of people think that this is a legitimate way to get stuff in this country. The only way to weed out the freeloaders is to make it so that all money recieved from the government has to be paid back. That would eliminate low life welfare recipients who can't get a job after a year of looking and would stop big corporations from taking money from politicians in bailouts. The minute they know they have to pay this back is the minute they will stop asking for it and people who actually do need it will still receive assistance.

Coal miners are one of the biggest welfare groups out there!

They all end up on the black lung welfare program and run up disability and Health costs on the taxpayer dime .

you mean those union's ?? You don't remember all the talk show host that had the union reps on back in the day, and the discussions of these things that went on back in the day ?? I think the union's wanted to have the American laborers to somehow get lost finally or eventually as time allowed for it, and then to support the onslaught of immigrants coming to work in construction and manufacturing, and to look to unionize them after they had taken the American's jobs over time. They even considered going to try and unionize manufacturing workers in other nations who work for American corporations operating in these other countries. It was a learning experience watching it all go on. I guess they felt they had no choice but to try and roll with the trends and dice that was being thrown down in it all.

NO! It is NOT taxes....these are people who work full time but still do not owe income taxes due to not making more than the personal exemption or standard deduction we all get or they are taking tax breaks that are given, like the child tax credit, or the EIC credit for what they pay in payroll taxes...

you know, they are the working people in the 47% that pay no federal income taxes...

They do pay State sales taxes and local property taxes if they own a home and gasoline taxes etc.... but no state or federal income taxes in most cases....

It's NOT tax policy that is hurting them... revising the income tax marginal rates doesn't help them one itty bitty bit, if that is what you were implying?
