Web site hosting?

I want to set up a website for my business, so that I can compete (sort of) with the others who have them.

I just have no real idea on who to use, or even really how to do this. I have comcast cable internet service, so can I use them? I think they offer hosting...

I just want a company that is reputable and has a good track record of not crashing.

Do I need a server of my own? What is the typical rate for website hosting?

I haven't registered my business name yet, because I want to get the whole cost estimate together before starting anything.
