I think what the government is trying to do, is to create some sort of gun registry. They will always have some noble-sounding rationale for it, I won't get into it, it's the modus operandi of the feds. I think what they are planning, is to first establish a database of gun-owners, and then gradually, they will send someone, probably the FBI, to pick them off one by one.

So, two things I recommend: 1. put all your efforts behind opposing gun registry of any kind; and 2. oppose any attempts at establishing a cashless society. With actual cash dollar bills, people can purchase guns relatively anonymously, outside of the scrutiny of the government.

And after that, we should also focus on reaching out to people. To really focus our effort like a laser beam: target intelligent, young, white males. This is the most promising group, the group most likely to support gun rights. Befriend them the best you can. Do not fret if you cannot succeed in completely swaying them all in one go. Just keep them around as friends, eventually they will see that what we stand for is good, and they will come around.

Any other good ideas?

gun registry is a state issue .. some states require firearms to be registered .. and ALL gun buyers have to be able pass a federal background to legally own a gun ..

Sounds like one of Saul Alinsky's "rules for radicals" to me.

In the early 80's Congress caught the BATF recording all gun transfers from gun stores. You know the paperwork you fill out every time you buy any gun and is, by law to be destroyed after 90 days. Congress ordered them to destroy the data base plus cut their funding for one year which the BATF said it took to makke data base. In my opinion this is only one of the over 2,000 agencies needing cut. A good example is when you drive to work on a federal holiday. No rush hour traffic. Plus, anybody that has ever needed help from any agency finds out quick just how worse they make it.
I don't think the BATF destroyed the list and has only added to it. So, if you own a gun you can bet this government knows you have it and knows where to go to find it. That's what governments do.

I can't begin to tell you how many of my friends not only accept it, but they embrace it. They think it's cool to pay with a device. They have no concept of money, barter, or hell, economics at all.

Also look at who is pushing this. The biggest beneficiary is banks. They will make more money.

The ATF is responsible for the atrocity of the Branch Dividians Waco, the Ruby Ridge debacle and lately "Operation Fast/Furious" that shipped thousands of illegal weapons to Mexican drug cartels and lost track of them. Time for a change?
