We're 200 miles away, but can see the Canaveral launches from here.

Still exciting to watch. Saw my first launch, Challenger's maiden flight, in 1983 from the Cape.

Now we watch them from my folks driveway.

They didn't land the booster stage back then. One of these days we'll go see it in person again.

I couldn't see it from my Fla. location but it as a blast to see with my binoculars all those passenger jets getting out of the way at full speed. And leaving some high altitude contrails.

I took my social studies class outside to watch a shuttle launch back in the day. One of my students at that time now works at NASA.

Our class wrote in to NASA to get the first prototype shuttle named Enterprise. It was supposed to be retrofitted for space flight, but that plan was later scrapped due to design changes.
