Was Ricky Gervais a disaster for the Golden Globes?

After watching the entire Golden Globes ( Yes I watched them ) it made me wonder was Ricky Gervais a disaster of a host this time around?

I was tossed up between choice 3 and 4 - (except I'm not a man, that was a bit stereo-typical, no Bruce?) I mean some women actually DON'T like award shows!!!!

I'd prefer Tarantino over Gibson, I might tune in for 5 mins then.

Didn't watch it of course, but I heard he "offended" a lot of people.
