"But Walmart said that never happened and the incident — along with the supposed police response and two-year ban — was all made up. "

Walmart reveals it's tracking checkout theft with AI-powered cameras in 1,000 stores

Seven Ways Technology Can Get You Arrested for Something You Didn't Do

The technology that increasingly runs our lives can get you arrested, even if you did nothing wrong.

I was at a Walmart last week in Show Low. I had no choice but to go through self checkout. As always, was a big pain in the ass and I feel like I am working for free and someone is out of a job.
Anyway, one of the times I had to get the attendant over because something just wouldn't scan, I made this suggestion;
Fix your system so all a customer has to do is push the cart into a designated spot and push a button, the whole cart gets scanned, and the customer gets a total, and goes through the payment process.
That all but eliminates shop lifting, makes the customer happier and saves time.
I am fairly certain the technology to do this already exists.

i got one walamart thats nothing but self check out.
