Isn't that what all your OWS was about? and all you leftard whinies about deep pockets influencing everybody in Congress?
Aren't this finally the way it is SUPPOSED TO BE?
Government shutdown: Wall Street angry at tea party it has no influence over - MJ Lee - POLITICO.com
Occupy Wall Streeters have a beef with Corporate America, who they think has bought off our government, and who they also think do not pay their fair share in taxes.
The Tea Partiers think that Washington D.C. is the biggest problem, that big-spending politicians are ruining us.
OWS is correct.
The Tea Party is only 1 tenth correct, since tax revenues as a part of our GDP are roughly 4 or 5% lower right now than where they are when we're in good times.
At any time in the last 60 years when our economy was doing great, tax revenue was close to 20% of our GDP. Today, tax revenue is about 14% or 15%.
Spending as a part of our GDP it at its lowest since President Eisenhower's administration.
So the real problem is what the OWS people are saying, which is that the super rich are simply NOT paying their fair share.
With modest tax increases, we could balance our budget.
We've done a lot of cutting the last couple years. But you can't cut your way to prosperity.
Last year the President gave John Boehner and the Tea Party "90% of what we wanted" they said.
That's right, and tax increases were very slight and marginal.
It's time to cut Corporate Welfare and institute a tax on the super rich, as well as taxing at a more fair rate people whose job it is to make money.
Steve Forbes and Mitt Romney, even if their jobs are only making money for shareholders, should at least pay what a plumber pays in taxes. But they don't. While my uncle the plumber pays 25% in taxes, those guys pay in the low teens. It makes no sense.
We could balance the books tomorrow and Steve Forbes and Mitt Romney's sacrifice would get us there AND they would still lead the wickedly awesome luxurious lives they already lead, while helping a grateful nation bounce back.
