Once again we see that libel is the reserve of the moron. Mrs Rooney has won the case but the real winners are the lawyers who egged on this nonsense. It has lead the news on all channels here and there is going to be a film about it.
A simple recap.
Mrs Rooney is the wife of fornmer England player Wayne Rooney. She was on a whatsapp group with other WAGS.
Shw noticed that stories about her were appearing in the press and decided to investigate.
She did this by releasing fake stories on the group and limiting who could see it.
She narrowed it down to Mrs Vardy who was the only person to see the last post which was released.
She went public and accused Vardy. Vardy denied it and sued Rooney for libel. It went to trial and Vardy was pretty much destroyed. Her case was very weak to non existent. She will now have to pick up a 7 figure legal bill to settle the costs.
It has entertained the country for about a year now.
