I saw the commercial and it looked fine. With that said, in my opinion the commercial should have started out from the beginning, like this picture showing the car surrounded by brilliant minds:

Why hide something that happened almost a century ago?

Why would they bring up something derogatory that happened almost a century ago? Especially when they are spending millions to promote the company.

That isn't "derogatory." Just because folks that had genocidal and putrid political ideology, designed and ran the company, doesn't make it. . . "derogatory."

Hitler also owned dogs, does that mean owning pets is. .. "derogatory" and shameful?

What passes as critical thinking and logic on this site? Never ceases to amaze me.

The genocidal Soviets accomplished many great firsts for humanity as well. That does not excuse their crimes against humanity, nor does it make the argument that global world socialist revolution should be promoted either.

This obsession with the past is disturbing. People anymore only care about the past when they want to bring up a negative about it and try to relate it to current time. People rarely bring up the past in a positive light.

Who cares if vw started in Germany or if it was related to Nazis? What the fuck does that have to do with anything now involving VW cars?

The Japanese bombed pearl harbor, how come no one complains when a Toyota commercial is on tv for hiding their past?

People today are so hateful and angry it's not even funny. Always trying to find the negative. And their desperation for attention just means they use negativity as a way to get attention.

The ad shows VW history in the US

I remember my Dad bought a VW in 1960. They were so rare that when you saw another VW, you flashed your lights at them.
Kids would play a game called “Punch Buggy” where if you spotted one first and called “Punch Buggy” you got to hit the other kids in the arm.

By 1965, they were all over the place

I guess every clothing ad with cotton as a part of their product needs to address the slavery past of the cotton trade also.........

Or something like that.

Hitler came up with the idea for the Autobahn the prototype of all expressways.
So if linerals are true to their word they should stay off all expressways

Several years later the Japanese said, "Thats enough of that".
