Axios first reported the news without describing the nature of the investigation, followed shortly by a CNN report that the committee is looking into allegations of sexual harassment.

NOTUS reported that Edwards was engaged in a long-term affair with a former aide. House rules prohibit members from having sexual relationships with their staff.

Edwards and the aide were not discreet, and the relationship caused office friction and led to staff departures, NOTUS reported.
