CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A school district in Texas has removed information about Virginia from its online learning platform because of the exposed breast on the commonwealth’s flag and seal.

According to an Axios article, Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (Lamar CISD) says Virginia’s flag is in violation of a ban on “visual depictions or illustrations of frontal nudity” in elementary school library material. Therefore, Virginia has been removed from Pebble Go Next, an online learning platform for elementary school students.

Both the Virginia seal and flag depict the Roman deity of bravery and virtue, Virtus, with her left breast exposed and foot on the form of Tyranny, represented by a man lying on the ground.

A Texas-based organization, Texas Freedom Project, refers to the ban as “a new level of dystopian, book-banning, and censorship hell in Texas.”

Texas Freedom Project’s mission is to support, connect, and mobilize parent and community led initiatives fighting for student rights and against censorship and book bans in Texas.

In full, Lamar CISD’s policy that bans the Virginia flag and seal from online materials is:

“No library materials used in elementary schools shall contain depictions or descriptions of sexual acts or stimulations of such acts implied or otherwise. This includes explicit or non-explicit written descriptions, depictions or illustrations of sexual acts, except for the purposes of teaching students (as may be approved by parents) to avoid and report molestation. No material in elementary school libraries shall include visual depictions or illustrations of frontal nudity”

Cope and seethe, Texas, cope and seethe.

Of the list of red states TX is the very last one I would choose freedoms wise.

Yes, they proudly fought under that banner, along with the Confederate battle flag as they strove to free the downtrodden from the tyrants. Or something.

"Sic Simper Tyrannis!" John Wilkes Booth's last known words as shot Abraham Lincoln!

Sorry, Virginia! You won't turn our good God-fearing Texas Schools into grooming grounds for topless dancers!

We prefer our girls to be wholesome, athletic, proud, and loving God, Family and Country - from left to right.

Real first class pussy!

Yeah, you people are more comfortable hosting drag queen shows for 5-year-olds. 😐

‘Virginia’s state flag and seal, depicting the Roman goddess Virtus standing over a slain tyrant, her drooping toga exposing her left breast, has been banned from younger students in a Texas school district.

The district, Lamar consolidated independent school district, near Houston, took action against the image late last year when it removed a section about Virginia from its online learning platform used by third through fifth graders, typically encompassing ages eight to 11, sparking a row, Axios reported on Thursday.

The Texas Freedom to Read Project, a group that opposes censorship and book bans in the state, said it had “unlocked a new level of dystopian, book-banning, and censorship hell in Texas” when it discovered that students in Lamar can no longer learn about the state of Virginia on their online research database, PebbleGo Next.

The group said that after it filed a public records request, the school district acknowledged that “Virginia” had been removed from the website due to the lesson violating the school board’s local library policy banning any “visual depictions or illustrations of frontal nudity” in elementary school library material.’

There’s no limit to the stupidity and authoritarianism of conservatives.

‘Thus always to tyrants,’ indeed – end the tyranny of rightwing censorship.

Dupe

It's a tiny town.
It was probably one person who made the decision.
It is not a big deal

Lamar is a small, unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Aransas County, Texas, United States, 10 miles (16 km) north of Rockport and 40 miles (64 km) north of Corpus Christi. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 636.[1] The community was named for Mirabeau B. Lamar, the second president of the Republic of Texas. This was a new CDP for the 2010 census.[2]

What the hell is a "learning platform"? My guess is that the left wing spies in the learning platform targeted Virginia's State flag to make an issue about parental control of education.

Democommies have been concentrating on Texas.
Austin, Houston, Dallas.
Geesus!..where the hell do you come up with that crap. From what I could gather, 7 out of 9 school board members in Lamar County are conservatives and it is the liberal Texas Freedom Project that refers to the ban as “a new level of dystopian, book-banning, and censorship hell in Texas.”

The school board members didn't make the connection with the Va. state flag. Texas kids probably don't know what the Va. liberty looks like. It was the left wing media that made the connection.

Stop blaming the media for the actions of the Texas School Board. Geesus…MAGAs love to blame the messenger.
