I agree and disagree to a certain extent. In my opinion, every slave rebellion was an attempt to stop slavery. While the most were deliberately illiterate (teaching them to read was a crime), others did learn to read, organize rebellions and become part of the larger abolition movement. Frederick Douglas is one example.

What I find both offensive and inaccurate is this idea some promote that they sat around doing nothing, while the People who enslaved them worked to free them.

No, the biggest slave traders were white and very few blacks owned slaves. You see, a person can make such comments but when one looks at the actual numbers, your comments are disingenuous.

In 1830 over 2 million blacks were in slavery. Blacks owned 13,000. In 1830 3,776 free blacks owned those 13,000 slaves. Thats an average of just over 3 slaves each. Out of those 3,776 blacks, 54 owned between 20-84 slaves.
