December 26, 2009 - Singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt died on Christmas Day. He was 45. According to The New York Times, he had been in a coma induced by an overdose of muscle relaxants.
The performer, based in Athens, Ga., lost the use of his legs following an auto accident when he was 18. The accident, and his ongoing bouts with depression, transformed him into a dark, brooding writer whose work has been compared to Flannery O'Connor and William Faulkner.
