Many of us have heard of this story. A lot of people have called him crazy.
Being a murderer doesn't automatically mean you're crazy. There are murderers out there that are logical, evil people who plan things out and act upon feelings of anger, pride, vengeance, envy, you name it.
Where do you stand on this? Do you think murderers, mass or not, have to be crazy? Have you ever thought about the psyches of murderers in general?
Mentally unstable would be my guess in most cases where the murderer doesn't know the victim. Of course in cases where someone is defending life and property, they're very sane. When someone takes a life, or lives, just to be doing it, yes, they're mentally unstable. Mass murderers, terrorists, and those that kill co-workers, are mentally unstable. Those that kill spouses over a divorce, child custody, or out of jealousy, are too hate-filled and angry to control their emotions. There are many reasons why someone kills another human, but most killings can be linked to mental issues of one type or another.
For example, a sane person couldn't take the life of a child, a loved one, or even a complete stranger just to be taking a life. There has to be mental issues when someone walks into a theater and kills a dozen people. There has to be mental issues when someone walks into a school and kills teachers and students. No sane person would do such a terrible heartless act. Sometimes, stress, reaction to drugs or alcohol, loss of a job, and other common factors may also play a role in how someone loses all self-control and decides to end their life, and take others with them. It's not uncommon for low self-esteem, a feeling of hopelessness, and sudden traumatic events to cause emotional instability and uncontrollable anger.
It's very difficult to know when someone is on the brink of throwing in the towel and taking as many as possible with them before they either take their own life, or are killed by another person. Desperation, frustration, and prolonged stress will make people do the unthinkable. A sane person, those that are able to control their emotions, would never take a life needlessly. The difference between sanity and lunacy is often times a razor thin line. One can be sane in the morning, and then turn around and take a dozen lives in the afternoon. One doesn't always give a warning, or give signs of mental instability until it's too late.
