paying 104, just got a deal for 50 bucks for 2 years for 1gb internet and can port my phone # to them
for 30 bucks a month for 2 lines the first year
FCC rules verizon must allow them to rent space on their towers
same #, same everything but way less.......why would I not?

I live rural but have a new verizon tower I can see from my house, full fast coverage

per math save about 850 bucks for the 1st year

Even when it go to regular price of 60 still around 528 bucks

been with verizon since they started some 20 or so years ago, be odd
but they are not giving me any real deal for being a 1st customer at all

I had Virgin Mobile until Boost bought them out, and I got grandfathered into my phone plan.

For $35.00 a month, I get unlimited calls and unlimited data. Will I ever switch? HELL TO THE NO!!!!!

I think it's been about 25 years or so now.

I have Spectrum for my internet, and I've had them for about just as long as my phone plan.

And being a "lifetime" customer at this point, I have yet to get any of the CHEAP freeking deals they give to new customers!!!!
My internet is $100.00 a month now, and "new" customers can get it for half that.

I looked at cheaper rates, but the only other internet company in this area is shit at their customer service. They told me after I signed up, it would be at LEAST TWO MONTHS before they could get to me!!! I work from home and can't do that.

I've written Spectrum several times about getting some kind of deal for being a long, LONG time customer, and all I get is this........

Actually, that is part of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 that did that, ruling the Bell Telephone (the precursor to Verizon), was a regulated utility which could not operate as a monopoly so had to allow full access to its network by others (CLECs, or Competitive Local Exchange Carriers). So in effect, a little of your tax money goes towards helping others in telecom compete with Mother Bell.

Actually, that might not even be your tower. If a tower is too close to you, it might not see you as the radiative reception pattern of a cell tower has a dead zone close by underneath where it is effectively blind. That is why cellphones always try to rely on at least three towers as one miles away might pick you up better than one right in your backyard.

Verizon sucks. They were originally GTE from down south merged with Bell Atlantic (one of the baby Bells).

about a year ago on top of a mountain nice new tower that is white, 4 beam directors on top and this black cone/beehive thing pointing NW
before this my closest tower was far away, talk and text were ok but no way you were going watch a video
possible I was actually on roaming too

verizon has been good but too much $$, ATT is not much better with price

that's why spectrum who will use my network coverage for 30 bucks a year for 2 lines vs 104 is a 850 savings

they don't care if I am an early customer.....

call them and upgrade to a new plan for 2 years for 50 bucks for fiber 1G if you have it

you could be paying more for less on a legacy plan that they no longer offer

I had the 600 plan 2 years ago, it's now 1G with way faster upload speeds

if you have anybody else in the area competition wise they will match them
they want to retain customers, no need for a tech to come out and redo anything

for me TDS is here, sent me a promo for 50/2 years, called spectrum and they were happy to match

customer should have the power, usually do

I did see any plan on their site for 100 bucks just for internet, maybe a phone/tv package you have?

Yeah, a tech told me to call and get the package deal for phone/internet/cable. He said it would be a lot less, and I dont need the phone and cable hooked up, just keep the internet on.

Well, when I called them up to do this, they told me "current customers are not able to get any package deals".

Apparently I have to QUIT their service for at least 60 days, and then will be deemed a "new customer" and can get the deals.

It's all fucked up shit.

if you are still under your contract then you need to become a new customer for this deal unless you have no competition

never heard of just quitting their service, you just go to a new plan, keep everything as it is

nobody is going to quit, go somebody else for only 60 days and come back because if you break that 2 year contract
you pay early termination fees
