She was mostly a desk bound manager, but she was required to go to the Mideast several times a year for her job, and the outing ended that. It made it too dangerous for her to go to Mideast after her role was exposed, and in fact made any WMD sting much more difficult.

Yes, because there was ABSOLUTELY NO ONE ELSE AT CIA who could do her job.

Do you really think any CIA operation to pretend to buy or sell WMD in the Mideast would be successful after Novak revealed that Plame was doing that?
The people in the Mideast would have to be pretty dumb to not realize the CIA would still be trying this sting.
