I'd take professional troops like the USAs over mercenaries any day. Professional troops are fighting for a cause; mercenaries are fighting for money. They can't spend their pay if they are dead, so they won't fight as hard as people fighting for a cause. Of course, Russia has no professional troops, so it has to depend on mercenaries like Wagner to bolster its poorly trained draftees.

That's a guess and hyperbole. There is no evidence that Wagner is controlled by the GRU. While the GRU might pay Wagner on occasion, it's not controlled like Air America was by the CIA.
