US Boards Tanker Number Three En Route to Venezuela

It's funny how I hear from anti-American posters on youtube and even Twitter suggesting that "China and Venezuela have outsmarted the U.S" and apparently they were using military to protect these oil tankers.

Quite a bold statement when the U.S military lead by Trump and his administration are serious about enforcing these sanctions. The anti-American apologists think they are dealing with a different administration perhaps.

So much for the "the US wants their oil" narrative.

She's running empty.

It's very telling that up until now sanctions just meant "we are upset that this ship is doing bad things but we aren't going to do anything about it"....That's over.

OK. What is the gig, this time? Obviously knew, it was empty of oil, by the waterline and direction traveling. If they though somebody was so much a sniffing glue, they would have blown it out of the water, no questions asked. We just thought we'd pirate an big ass empty boat in international waters, using our military to do it?

The tanker has been sanctioned internationally. That means you treat it like a pirate.

You really need to seek medical treatment. Your brain is no longer functioning.

The Coast Guard seizes these vessels.

No. Bella 1 is only in US sanctions list, and Centuries wasn't even in open US lists.

And, of course, US sanctions means nothing in high seas. Anyway, if you continue to do this, China, Russia and many other guys will start arresting (or torpedoing) US ships in high seas, too. And however good is US Fleet it can't protect all US ships.

By the way, did anyone of your NATO allies openly support those actions? It's rhetoric question.

OK. OK. What is it about? It is about government welfare for US petroleum producers, using our military to help control resource price supports. Oil current trading in mid $50 Dollars, yet majority of fields in US costing $60 Dollars to produce. Multiple countries suck as Saudi/OPEC (which have lower production costs) have started back pumping to the world market. World supply is up, so price has been falling. We cannot do anything about Saudis/OPEC, as Donny is in love with the Mad Prince and murderous assholes of a feather, flock together. But, we can do something about the largest reserves in the world, Venezuela (303 Billion barrels), keeping them off the market, to try to support the price at $60 or better. So, we throw smoke in the air about drugs and blow up some boats, then start crap about regime change (even though we are piss poor at successful regime change), but real intent is just to keep that country's oil off the market. To keep US producers pumping and oil crews paid. We can probably forget about "drill baby drill" for a while, as the oil companies have no intention of drilling themselves out of business.

The fact that the coast guard does it, makes what difference, exactly?

That's it. Trump is after all the empty tankers for himself. :smoke:

Looks like the world got pretty lax under Joe Biden not giving two shits about embargoes because they knew the Old **** was a worthless impotent threat.

Even the WH dog regularly peed on Joe's leg.

Taking names and kicking ass. :)

The Coast Guard is authorized to conduct law enforcement operations. We carried a Coast Guard detachment when conducting boarding operations in the Caribbean and Red Sea.
I was already aware they are the maritime branch of the military with a law enforcement mission. So where were they when we were blowing little boats out of the water, instead of doing their usual stopping, inspecting, and seizing operations in the name of law enforcement?

It is more efficient to blow them out of the water.

Not exactly true.

I am going to type this slowly so your TDS-brain rot might allow comprehension.

How do you board a speedboat going 40 knots in open water? Please explain and I'll make sure to forward it to the Navy.

Did you know if a vessel attempts to run from the Coast Guard, they are allowed to fire to disable and stop the vessel?

The Coast Guard is part of Homeland Security and is not considered part of the military unless it is wartime. Before DHS, they were part of the Transportation Department.

I thought they know about such thing as "warning shot". It's quite old invention, I believe.

And anyway, if you already know that the boat is Venezuela's cocaine clipper, you have no right to stop her in high seas.

By the vidioes of the Coast guard doing drug interdiction, they approach, by sea or by air, issued instructions to stop. If they do, fine. If not, the boats engines are targeted with automatic weapons fire. When engines stop, the boat stops. This gets mission accomplished, preserves life and preserves evidence.
Are you saying, that does not work, or has the value of human life dropped in the eyes of the Trump administration?

Who wants to preserve the life of some drug runner?

It's a hard knock world. About time the gloves came off.
