A new poll suggested that democratic socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s sheen may already be wearing off among voters.

Mamdani’s support appears to have dropped 14 percentage points from less than a week ago, based on a previous poll, while Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa’s surged 12 percent.

Mamdani shocked the political world by winning the Democratic primary, defeating former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

He now faces Sliwa and Cuomo, as well as current New York City Mayor Eric Adams, in the general election. Cuomo and Adams are both running as independents, assuming they each decide to stay in the race.

A poll conducted by HarrisX from July 7 to July 8 found Mamdani, Cuomo, and Sliwa in a statistical tie.

BJ - I can't see Mamdani winning in any circumstance.

Meh, I prefer to watch NYC implode from a safe distance.

As a former New Yorker, I'm not surprised. I've seen Mayors of the City from LaGuardia to O'Dwyer, Lindsay to Guiliani to Deblasio to Adams...
Meanwhile I seen the borough of Brooklyn set on fire by racist block busters and politicians stepping in to buy up properties in what they call gentrification.
Then there's the assault on Flushing NY, once a middle class neighborhood become a Little Asia and Middle East.

Muslim donors flood Mamdani’s campaign for NYC mayor, see national impact

Six days before polls closed in the New York City mayoral primary, and hours after former Mayor Michael Bloomberg injected an extra $5 million into former Gov. Andrew Cuomo's mayoral PAC, a group of Muslim Americans began mobilizing nationwide. A few donors told ABC News they knew they couldn't match Cuomo's donors, but believed a small jolt might give Zohran Mamdani a final push in the Democratic primary.

I remember the NYC of the 80s (must have been '83 or '84) when the DuPont plant I worked at sponsored a bus trip to Yankee Stadium to see a O's - Yankee double-header.

On the ride in the trash in the alleys was up to the 1st floor windows, overflowing to the street.....And it was moving with rats! There were big yellowish orange "Beware of Rats" signs everywhere.

The trip to the bus lot took us behind the stadium where hookers were lined-up, there must have been 100+ of them.....Each one uglier than the next.

From the bus lot to the stadium might have been 250 yards or so and we must have walked past 50+ cops. I asked one of them if something was going on and he told me if they were not there we would be robbed before we got 50 yards.

I remember they were all carrying old ragged-out 5" .38 special S&Ws.

LOL....Gotham did not disappoint! All that was missing was the Bat Signal!

When I first moved to Flushing Queens in 1978, things were bad stores closed along Main Street to Roosevelt Ave., but the RKO Keith Movie House was still a great place to good a Friday evening...
Things picked up after Reagan was elected and there was a renaissance of businesses and good restaurants along the avenue. It was also as building of baroque beauty and considered a landmark.
It started with South Americans renting and starting businesses, then suddenly Chinese. Korean and Pakistani's began buying up businesses and apartment buildings forcing people out.
Landmarks like the RKO Keith were destroyed during landmark
disputes by arson.

The article reminds me of how Democrats dismiss the idea of a Republican winning in a Democrat controlled election. Just like they did with Trump.

/——/ A prime example of why Communists have to seize power by brute force.

When you restrict the rights of other third and fourth parties via media and debates and game a 2 party system, yet allow Communists to run under the Dem party instead of a 3rd or 4th party then you get a
Zohran Mamdani, it's on the failure of legislature to make the democratic process fair and actual democracy.
Jonathan Emord in Oct 30, 2021wrote that:
When socialists or communists purport to swear or affirm their support for the Constitution they are committing perjury. They consciously support a system of government antithetical to, and one which cannot co-exist with, the Republican Form created by the Constitution; they cannot support socialism or communism and likewise support the Constitution. The swearing in ceremonies for self-avowed socialist members of Congress and state and local office holders are invalid acts of fraud, corrosive to a basic protection for that government to which the American people consented, the Republican Form.
Among self-avowed socialists serving in Congress (at the time of his article) were Democratic Socialists of America members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez; Rashida Tlaib; Cori Bush; and Jamaal Bowman. Senator Bernie Sanders and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar likewise describe themselves as “democratic socialists.” None is eligible to be in office under Article VI, Clause 3 of the Constitution.

So you use this premise to stop Zohran Mamdani from local office through I believe his being constitutionally ineligible to hold a local Mayoral office under Article VI, Clause 3 and under Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution.
And once again, as he purports to swear or affirm his support for the Constitution he is committing perjury and can be arrested on the spot if the NYPD so choosed to nip this in the bud.

I can think of nothing more fitting that NYC suffer the embarrassment of this clown becoming the mayor.

The problem is that most of the shit that he says he will do -

He won't
He can't

So, no great harm will come to the city.
It will be another case of Socialism/Communism didn't work because we couldn't do it right.

It will be a hilarious clown show that I will enjoy. The hoity toity snotty elitists and big money will be fit to be tied. The legacy power brokers and politicians who feel they OWN all that money are going to throw a conniption fit.

Polls are worthless, I actually saw one claiming AOC is the front runner for the nomination in 202

Pure BS

Communism has never come to power without violence. What better way to violence then preventing communist policies.

/----/ All of that is true, but he can appoint a left-wing commie police commissioner who will immediately hog-tie the police, and the crime rate will soar.
