The minimum wage is currently £12.21 and the government are gloating it's rising to £12.71 in 2026. Don't forget, the government doesn't pay that wage, employers do. So based on an average 40 hour week, that's £12.71 x 40 x 52 = £26,438.80 per year.

Now the government has to pay the state pension. After 35 qualifying years, you can get the maximum yearly state pension of......

..... £230.25 per week, which is £11,973 per year 🤔

Work and contribute all your life to get less than half minimum wage.

Details.
£26000 plus earnings is taxed at 20% after the initial tax free one person allowance of around £12750 .
Plus National Insurance contributions .

And OAPS are due a rise this coming April .

But there is still a big net gap .
However, the comparison is somewhat Apples versus Oranges as an OAP is in a sense receiving an after work Bonus Payment .
A thank -you for being a good Sheeple

And you can hardly blame the ruling Government for not helping OAPs further if they have failed to make provisions over a previous 40+ years .

I believe I will get a pension in about 7 years and if it is around £300 a week by then we shall eat whatever we like and in whatever amount we choose .
An occasional £1 to a random poor person .

You kinda missed the point. But, I'm not surprised.

Irrelevant of people's tax situation, the government forces employers to pay over twice as much as to what it pays out itself for pensions. Raising the pension above the basic allowance would attract 20%. NI is exempt on pensions.

The employers NI increase will raise £25 billion per year? Are pensions going up £25 billion per year? Are you a government sheeple !!

That will be the day .

Your contention simply promotes the reply of ,
So What?

If you reduce employer contributions and likely future pension raises , you penalise the OAPs .

If you raise Government contribution you simply raise taxes across the rest of the Sheeple Herd .

I see OAPs in an already marvellous financial position . At least here in Team GB Land .

Why give more to an already well looked after segment who are a colossal drain on the system .

Why do you think Deep State do their best to get rid of many as possible ?
They are an unwanted "luxury" with zero productivity .

Well government sheeple, the state pension equates to £145 billion per year. How much of the £25 billion will increase that? The money will be wasted on such things as paying for luxury migrant seekers whilst telling employers to pay more in wages. One rule for one.

Right.

And it's going to be even worse because your people are not having kids. But guess who is?

Look at the figures on the ethnic breakdown in the US. White Americans are diving and the Hispanics are going through the ceiling. You better learn Mexican/Spanish soon to get by.

so? Many Hispanics are conservative and share American values. You deeply misunderstand what makes America, America. Not the color of skin.
