The UK has strict regulations on the storage, treatment and display of human remains. But anyone can possess, buy and sell human body parts as long as they were not acquired illegally, and they are not used for transplants, only for decoration.

This was a voluntary decision by the auction house. They were at liberty to carry on legally with the sale.
But I dont think it is acceptable to deal in human parts however old. I dont think they should be displayed in museums either.

A slight change in the law would rectify this. Any human remains in museums od in private hands should be repatriated to their country of origin.

As an aside I wonder what sort of ghoulish person would want to oen something like this.
Also I should add that bofy parts should be able to be used to advance medical science with the consent of the undividual.

I suspect that American laws are similar to the UK.

Surely the Dragon Slayer was Buffy
.
Bofy was a great English Cricket player.
Or did you mean BOFY -- the Bank of Yemen ?

wonder what percent of them contained any human parts at all?

I remember seeing them at amusement parks when I was a kid

with the label, 'Made in Japan'.

Maybe you were looking at fakes ? But there is a real market in this stuff.

Hmmm...it's a tough call. I'll be the first to say that I'd buy a human skull if I could. My two thoughts...
1. There is no compelling reason for a government to allow the sale of bodies or their parts.
2. However, when we talk about freedom, you don't really need a compelling reason. After all, what if it's my own body?
I think the law should be amended to allow people to sell their own bodies, but to prohibit the sale of other people's bodies.
