An Oxfordshire teacher was reportedly referred to a government counter-terrorism programme after showing videos of Donald Trump to his US politics class.
The teacher in his 50s said he was 'likened to a terrorist' after he showed the videos, one including Mr Trump's inauguration, to A-level students, according to the
Telegraph.
Henley College - a sixth form in Henley-on-Thames with more than 2,000 students - reported the teacher to the local child safeguarding authority.
The local authority then decided that he should be referred further to Prevent, the Government's counter-terrorism programme, as a 'priority'.
The teacher, who does not wish to be identified, told the
Telegraph: "They likened me to a terrorist. It was completely jarring.
"It's dystopian, like something from a George Orwell novel."
Showing the videos was suggested as amounting to a 'hate crime' in one document seen by the Telegraph.
The politics lecturer was accused of causing his students, aged 17 and 18, 'emotional harm'.
The teacher reportedly launched a grievance procedure against the college but was still effectively forced to resign his £44,000-a-year post.
