Upgraded a laptop last night...this is interesting.
A lot of changes in the look and feel...as usual - the install was flawless.

Yeah, I know. I absolutely despise the new Unity desktop so I've switched over to Mint 11.

I am not caring for it myself.
Hopefully this is just a rough beginning to something else.
I can see for your average user it is easier to navigate - but for the more serious tweekers - it sucks.
Do you mean for a modem? If so check the Ubuntu and Mint communities for the necessary drivers.Anybody know if there's a dial-up utility for 11.0. or Mint?

I don't have a problem with Ubuntu I just can't stand Unity and the desktop layout, I couldn't find some of the stuff I use like Administration and Preferences, where the hell did they go??!!
I also like the clean desktop and I always have two bars, one on top and one on the bottom where I put every thing, that huge sidebar with the Sesame Street icons is an eyesore.

Yeah, I think Mint is a better distro overall. I've been running it on one of my computers for quite a while. After trying out Ubuntu 11.04 and the Unity desktop for a few weeks on what is normally my Ubuntu computer, I installed Mint 11 on that one as well.

Yea, 10 was the last version with a built-in dial-up modem utility...
... wish they'd put it back in...
... still a lot of people dialin'-up with modems.
