U.S.A. AirForce retreating? Opinions Please

The US Air Force has retreated from Taiwan without a shot fired I am looking for opinions on this article. It is not a good report on our Air Force. Also opinions on the ''Think Tank'' report. Do you agree with it and the Air Force strategy? Or is this article baloney?
The USA is not a conquering military....Taiwan is not property of the USA nor is the USA the World's police force.

The Air force in Taiwan is a target...an excellent target. Besides....Aircraft carriers in the area are more than sufficient. And Taiwan is not defenseless....not by a long shot. Compulsory military service for ALL Taiwanese men. Everyone knows which end of the tube the bullets come out of.

Mostly baloney imo. The headline leads one to think there are USAF jets in Taiwan- not the case. The author fails to mention that the F-teens coming out of Kadena are replaced with F-35's and F-22's on 6-month rotations.

The Rand "study" is like all Rand studies- the situation is horrible and we need to spend way more $$$ on the military. It assumes all the fighter jets at Kadena and Guam would be destroyed in a first strike by Chinese missiles and wouldn't be available to help Taiwan, it ignores USAF force multipliers like in-flight refueling or ECM/EW, and it assumes all the Chinese stuff works as advertised.

These are the same guys that gave NATO 7 days if Russia started a ground war in Eastern Europe. I can't think of a single Rand study ever, that concluded "We're in great shape, Russia or China or Iran wouldn't dare to attack US forces or our allies".

Rand's bread and butter is doom and gloom...

if you are correct it might suggest that military officials believe an invasion of Taiwan by China is eminent .

Rotating in 5th Gen fighters is a signal to both Xi and Kim, but I don't think it suggests the US thinks an invasion of Taiwan is imminent.

Taiwan is far from defenseless, and has several layers of anti-shipping capability. It's a wide strait, and Chinese phibs would get hammered big time.

Xi could blockade Taiwan, and dare someone else to shoot first. That's a realistic possibility, especially if he sees cracks between the US and EU. If he thinks harsh trade sanctions would only come from the US, it will make him bolder.

I don't think the world wants a shooting war over Taiwan- it's Internationally recognized as China's territory already. You can't even really call it a war of conquest for Xi, he has a strong claim even if it would violate a bunch of prior agreements.
