The United Nations has its origins in the brutality of World War II, that war's origins in Germany's and Japan's unchecked territorial ambitions, and the need to end the war in the debris of Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Dresden. The U.N. was supposed to replace war with dialogue. To quote George Meany in another context "better to jaw jaw than to war war." The U.N. has indeed become a one-nation factory of human rights resolutions; condemning Israel. Now Israel is far from perfect but it is far from the worst offender.
Iran's post-Peacock Thrown life started with the seizure of 51 innocent American hostages. It continued with a needless nuclear program. In recent years, Iran has slaughtered its at least tens of thousands of its own citizens and apparently has very strong ties to the October 7, 2023 massacre. Where is the U.N.? Have the mullahs resorted to reason or just drenching the sands and rocks of the Middle East and apparently other parts of the world (think the 1994 synagogue massacre in Argentina) in blood. They have put hits out on President Trump. Now, they are flailing at all of their neighbors, many of whom who have not attacked them.
I have a modest proposal; for the U.S. to leave the U.N. We are not a punching bag.
