In a Republic, actually
‘During his first six weeks in office, President Donald Trump has embarked on a dizzying teardown of the federal government and attacks on long-standing institutions in an attempt to increase his own authority.

He has pardoned those who attacked the U.S. Capitol to overturn his 2020 election loss, placed loyalists atop the FBI and military, and purged the Department of Justice, which dropped investigations against Trump allies. He declared control over independent agencies such as the Federal Election Commission, punished media outlets for coverage he dislikes and his allies suggested he could defy court orders.

Those who monitor democracy across the globe had warned that a second Trump term could endanger America’s 240-year experiment with democracy. His opening weeks in office have done nothing to dispel those concerns.

“Trump is using the classic elected authoritarian playbook,” said Brendan Nyhan of Dartmouth College, who joined more than 800 other political scientists in signing a letter warning that Trump is undermining the rule of law and the basic constitutional principle of checks and balances. “It’s almost embarrassing how crude it is.”’

Just as embarrassing as Trump being elected.

In fact, that’s democracy’s greatest failure, democracy’s most dangerous flaw: the voters – voters who, the consequence of their fear, ignorance, and stupidity, elect an authoritarian.

If democracy dies in America, it will have been killed by the people.

You might not like it , but The People elected Donald J. Trump to be our President.

If the libs don't like it, they'll be another election in 4 years when they can try to elect someone more to their liking.

I didn't care for Sleepy Joe or B. Hussein O, but I didn't say that "democracy is dying" or any other such bullshit.

You are running a $2T a year deficit.

It is his fiduciary duty to cut costs or his nation is in jeopardy.

Right or wrong, this massive debt and deficit offers him plenty of latitude to make drastic changes, inevitably some might be political out of convenience.

In fact, that’s democracy’s greatest failure, democracy’s most dangerous flaw: the voters – voters who, the consequence of their fear, ignorance, and stupidity, elect an authoritarian fascist thug such as Trump.

And that as a consequence of the voters’ fear, ignorance, and stupidity, they again in the future elect another authoritarian fascist thug such as Trump.

If democracy dies in America, it will have been killed by the people.
We knew what we were getting when we elected Trump
We deserve the consequences

Once you give away your rights and freedoms, it is hard to get them back

Which he helped add to in his first administration. So where was this zeal when Republicans controlled the House and Senate in his first term? And then, to matters worse, he ignores the response to the pandemic which just helps inflate the deficit. Swinging at low hanging fruit is just lazy. You're not going to save a whole lot of money in the grander scheme of things there.
