New polling shows continued deterioration of the President's polling in handling the economy. Polling for the AP polling has fallen from 41% in March to 31% currently.

Trump’s handling of the economy is at its lowest point in AP-NORC polling

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s approval on the economy and immigration have fallen substantially since March, according to a new AP-NORC poll, the latest indication that two signature issues that got him elected barely a year ago could be turning into liabilities as his party begins to gear up for the 2026 midterms.

Only 31% of U.S. adults now approve of how Trump is handling the economy, the poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds. That is down from 40% in March and marks the lowest economic approval he’s registered in an AP-NORC poll in his first or second term. The Republican president also has struggled to recover from public blowback on other issues, such as his management of the federal government, and has not seen an approval bump even after congressional Democrats effectively capitulated to end a record-long government shutdown last month.

Perhaps most worryingly for Trump, who’s become increasingly synonymous with his party, he’s slipped on issues that were major strengths. Just a few months ago, 53% of Americans approved of Trump’s handling of crime, but that’s fallen to 43% in the new poll. There’s been a similar decline on immigration, from 49% approval in March to 38% now.

So it's funny when Republicans on USMB try to tell us prices are down not up. And the jobs numbers aren't bad. Gaslighters

The good news is that the American economy is incredibly resilient, and right now the AI buildout is doing for this economy as the internet buildout did for Clinton's economy in the 90's. We could be fine.

But I have never seen a President go so far out of his way to put an economy on thin ice like this. It's getting pretty old watching this person address everything, EVERYTHING, like a ******* caveman.

Don't forget Rich Americans made a lot of money during the Bush years too. And rich Americans got even richer after Covid.

The middle class got fucked but the economy was and still is the best economy in the world. Regardless of if the middle class is struggling or not. In fact you could assume if labor is struggling then companies might be doing even better because of low labor costs.

From 2019 to 2022, the median net worth of American families jumped 37% to $192,900, after adjusting for inflation. It’s the largest increase ever recorded by the federal Survey of Consumer Finances, released last fall. Surging home values and rising stock ownership fed the surge.

Meh, if anything all the poll proves is that the MSM's "mah affordability" campaign against Trump is working. I don't suspect it will work for much longer.
You mean Trump making things unaffordable is not sitting well with voters or people answering the poll? Duh.

Is Fox News the MSM?

You know what I love? Last year we showed you the economy was actually good and because of the great resignation, anyone who wanted more money could easily go find a better job. You guys didn't disagree. What you said was "even if the economy is good people don't FEEL like it's a good economy".

Well now the economy is definitely not good. Prices are up and companies aren't hiring. Trump has lost over 1 million jobs this year. And you want us to FEEL like things are good?

I know the American voter is stupid but not this stupid. You're blaming the MSM?

And Trump's blaming Biden? LOL> Get ******* real you slackers.

What specifically do presidents do to handle the economy? That is the question I would ask the public.

Socialist countries can of course tell us that their president is in charge of every company and all workers.

Actually, Republicans have always said that. Whenever a Democrat is in charge and things are going well.

Now you are asking it because Trump's in charge and the economy is tanking. We all know no president has had their hands in the economy more than Trump. That alone has companies NOT hiring, not making long term decisions because they don't know what Trump will do next.

Excellent example of TDS: The economy is fine, but caveman bad.

As a hater of both parties, my opinion of the economy is that even without Trump's tariffs we would be sliding toward recession. As I stated many times when Biden was POTUS there is no soft landing out of inflation. Job losses and economic slowdowns were always going to be the case. It has just been a matter of when. Now that said tariffs plus jacking up health insurance costs for millions will worsen what's to come. That is all MAGA's idiocy.

What specifically do presidents do to handle the economy?
Nothing.

Presidents have little or no control over current economic conditions.

That’s why it was ignorant, stupid, and wrongheaded to attack President Biden over ‘the economy.’

That’s why it was ignorant, stupid, and wrongheaded to vote for Trump because of ‘the economy.’

And now Trump has fallen prey to the voters’ ignorance and stupidity over ‘the economy.’

Actually, I suspect "nice doggy" is what Trump says when you guys repeat his lies. Add homeowners to the list of voters who aren't happy with Trump

Homeowners are losing thousands in equity thanks to weakening prices

  • Borrower equity fell 2.1% in the third quarter of this year compared with the same period a year ago, according to Cotality.
  • For the average homeowner, that translates to a loss of $13,400.
What a great economy Trump.

When you have a good economy the President doesn't have to tell us that this Xmas maybe we only buy 3 dolls instead of 37. What a prick comment huh?

When you have a good economy you don't have stories like this coming out

  • What is called the “K-shaped economy,” with stress on lower-income consumers leading to significant cutbacks while the wealthier continue to spend, is a key concern among companies.
  • However, even consumers who are dining out are cutting back and prioritizing appetizers in their menu selections.
  • Consumers are still dining out, but instead of higher-priced entrees, many are ordering more appetizers.
  • As food inflation and affordability dominates the conversation about the U.S. consumer, new restaurant purchasing data shows even among Americans who are going to restaurants, many are in the mindset of cutting back.
But here is how Republicans would spin this:

Appetizer orders are up 20% year over year

You should go back to your old avatar....It made you seem less of a tard. 😐

Prices are not down. How can prices go down? Deflation? That would be an economic nuclear weapon. They're not going up as fast as they were under Biden, which is a good thing. Prices NEVER go down much, if at all. But food prices doubled under Biden, and are up just a handful of percent under Trump. Not wonderful, but better than nothing. This eceonomic disaster started under Biden, he had 4 years to **** it up. People think Trump can work miracles and get the economy back to pre-Biden levels in a few months. We would be lucky if it returns to pre-Biden levels before Trump leaves office.

That being said, record stock markets and record GDP growth do indicate a strong economy.

What I have to continually remind people of, and I heard a pundit on FNC say this the other day and he is just wrong, that the price of GAS will affect the price of your consumer goods. No, it will not. Why not? Because my truck doesn't burn gas, it burns DIESEL. And if you look at the price at the pump at the major truck stops we can fuel at, diesel is still high, not as high as under Biden, but still high. So prices can't wiggle much, because it costs so much to ship it.
