Taking a look at our 2024 deficit trade imbalance with Canada, Mexico, and Germany I don't see any problem or for the need for tariffs when it comes to such nations.

Let's not fail to take into consideration the populations of the countries.
USA: 340 million
Canada: 40 million
Mexico: 131 million
Germany: 83 million

Looking at the Export/Import figures for the countries above:

Canadians in 2024 on a per capita basis purchased $8,748 worth of American goods and services
Americans purchases of Canadian products on that per capita basis amounted to merely $1,211

Mexicans on that per capita basis bought $2,550 from us and sold to us $1,487

Germans per capita bought $912 from us and sold to us $472

The notion I have is our trade problem is pretty much restricted to Asia.
Am I wrong here?

It's always good to be sure that deals are optimized. Could some have been tweaked, improved? Sure, no doubt, including those with Canada and Mexico that Trump signed and later reneged on.

Is it done by mocking, trolling, insulting, intimidating and threatening our (former) friends, (former) trading partners, and (former) allies, destroying those longstanding relationships, throwing the world economy, supply chains and American business planning and American Treasury bonds into fucking chaos? No, of course not. No intelligent adult would do that. But that's all Trump knows.

This was never an "emergency". But because of his profound mental/emotional issues, Trump has made it into one.

Start forcing other nations to follow basic rights of citizens or hit them with a "human right tax". Charge the exporters rather than the importers.

Trump himself faced the abusive power of government and he knows how diabolical they can operate. He is now leading the same government and must lead by example instilling the understanding that civil liberties, accountable and transparent government are key. This is one of the reasons his approval rating was so high. Gabbard, RFK, his administration choices generally helped him in this regard.

Canada violates citizens rights to the extreme. Destroys people and keeps them in their caste. No amount of begging and pleading for assistance forces them to change course, not in creepy Ontario.

Why would you not demand they are loyal to a basic premise of human rights before you reward them with billions of dollars?

I've reached out to many in your administration. I want them to know my name and details.

If Canada doesn't want me to work, don't want me to have the ability to have money, to pursue dreams, to have a roof over my head, it should be known. Especially as much of their harm to me had its genesis in me calling out their violation of American national interests.

It is G-ds demand that we all speak the truth and not allow America to blindly subsidize these abuses. You can still choose to support them, but you can't do so in the dark anymore. In time, I guarantee you that these abuses will reach your shores as you emulate those who are not like you, your Founders, your Constitution, your Republic.

Other countries are actively trying to undercut our economy, mostly through cheap labor taking our businesses out of our country.

And where America comes out on the short end of the stick that needs to be dealt with. But for the most part our trade situation other than with Asia is a doing fairly well.
