Biden wants to repair his image. He may be seeking to make a deal with Trump to cooperate in the transition in return for pardoning Hunter.

I guess some traditions just shouldnt be messed with. I suppose that formality comes along with the Institution of the presidency itself.

Trump did not have to accept the traditional meeting. He obviously disagrees with you. Don't expect him to abuse the outgoing president, hosting the meeting. You will be disappointed. You must have skipped Trump's victory speech.
