Planned parenthood killed more black babies last month than the KKK has in the entirety of their existence

Trump to Cut Planned Parenthood Funding, Administration Will Announce Friday

The executive action is based on a 1988 Reagan regulation, but can't eliminate most of Planned Parenthood's federal funding.

On Friday, the Trump administration will announce a proposed rule to cut taxpayer funding to abortionists like Planned Parenthood under Title X, a program that provides $260 million annually in federal funding for contraception and other “family planning” initiatives.

“The proposal would require a bright line of physical as well as financial separation between Title X programs and any program (or facility) where abortion is performed, supported, or referred for as a method of family planning,” a Trump administration official tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD in an email.

The 1970 law establishing Title X states: “None of the funds appropriated under this title shall be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning.” But in the 1970s and 1980s, the law was interpreted to allow Title X programs to refer patients for abortions, be co-located with abortion clinics, and lobby for pro-abortion policies—so long as federal dollars did not directly fund abortions. In 1988, President Reagan's secretary of Health and Human Services issued regulations to end these practices that blurred the line between funding contraception and promoting abortion.

So naturally, this will result in more babies being born to unfit, unwilling, and unprepared mothers. I’m sure Trump will increase funding for Head Start, WIC, CHIP (oh wait, he already cut that)….right?

Pennies for birth control pills now or dollars for aid later on. It takes a devoted dumbass like Trump to really not see the benefit of preventative medicine.

In related news, Cecile Richards received a human rights award for her tireless work in making it possible for there to be fewer humans born!

Republican are such pigs. They lay awake at night fantasizing about cutting food stamps and health insurance for kids, then they start this wailing about abortion. F'n hypocrites.

Yeah let's not blame the parents for getting pregnant in the first place.

Blame the parents all you want. No problem there.

But the people who are getting punished are kids who are not at fault in any way; agreed?

Plan parenthood does wonderful work wh women’s health . Abortion is a mall part and they get no funding for that .

Abortion numbers and unwanted pregnancies have been dropping for years .

Careful what you wish for . Oh and careful of setting precedent. Maybe the next prez is a dem, and cuts all funding to places wh gun friendly policies .

It’s not going to cut any significant amount

So you agree. Now that you cut planned parent hood and their programs (part of which are adoption services genius), I guess we should start a federal program to do what Planned Parenthood was already doing????

Pregnancy Testing & Health Services

Not that it matters, now that PP has been cut, when the newly formed Federal Adoption Program gets a kid that has birth defects due to the mother not having pre-natal care (something else PP offers), I’m sure there will be parents lined up around the corner to take the child who has these defects and their associated costs. Obamacare will pay for the care of the child after all.

Oh wait, the ACA was cut too and replaced by nothing.

Good thing we still have CHIP…oh wait; that was cut too by the pervert (aka your messiah).

Yes because all of this is the Federal government's responsibility not State l/local and individual responsibility .

Yes because all of this is the Federal government's responsibility not State l/local and individual responsibility .

Well, the way it used to work was that the Federal Government gave Title X monies to the State and the State ran the disbursement. Now cutting the funding forces the State to do one or two things:

Spend pennies on Ortho Tri-Cyclen and Nuva Ring or spend dollars later when the unwanted and unloved kid gets thrown in prison.

Again PP got funding through the Title X state grants. That has been cut in hopes of reducing abortions (which it likely will not do)…meanwhile all of the other programs PP runs will be cut and that leaves poor women looking for assistance—all of which has been cut as well. As mentioned, part of PP’s services was adoption counseling. Now who takes that over?

The Republican war on women continues unabated.

Bull Shit. They don't do have of what other low-cost, affordable women's clinics do. Hell, they don't even check/monitor for Breast Cancer.

There are twice as many low-cost women's clinics in the country as PP, yet
they get nothing.

PP is there for abortions and to donate their federal money to Dem candidates.

If these programs are so supported then why doesn't the individual states raise taxes and pay for it themselves?

Because you and everyone else know that people don't support it that much. If the average voter has the choice to pay for an abortion or taking the family out to dinner once a week and every once and a while a trip to Disney Land/World you know what voters will choose.

Republicans can't get anything done regarding Planned Parenthood in Congress where spending bills are either passed or not, so they are relying on illegal decrees by Lying Trump to do their dirty work.

Anyone notice that conservatives are fine with orange turd decreeing anything he likes? They have embraced dictatorship as if slipping into a well worn pair of slippers. It is their natural state. -

Taxpayer money to fund abortions should have never happened in the first place.

The Hyde Amendment passed in the 1980s has prevented federal tax dollars from paying for abortions for over 30 years yet you and conservatives keep whining about it. There are exceptions for the life and health of the woman, incest and rape. If you have a problem with those exceptions then that's your problem. Deal with it.

However. There are I think something like 17 states that use their state medicaid dollars to pay for abortions. Some by court rulings some by the vote.

As with my state. In 1981 the issue was on the ballot. Should we spend our state medicaid dollars on abortion for low income women?

It passed with a very good margin. I voted in the majority.

So when we were given the choice to use medicaid dollars for abortion, we overwhelmingly said YES.

If you live in a state that allows medicaid tax dollars to pay for abortion you have two choices. You can either move or deal with it.

Yes…well that is all fine and good.

I was pointing out what the stakes are. You either spend a little now or spend a lot later on.

There is always adoption. There is no reason for the kids not to have room and board.

There are millions of kids waiting to be adopted. Until you’ve found homes for all of the children waiting to be adopted, don’t even suggest that women shouldn’t have abortions.

And for the idiot who said people shouldn’t get pregnant, consider the following:

1. 75% of the women getting abortion cite financial reasons for the abortions. As long as you offer no job protections for pregnant women and no mandated maternity leave, low income women will have abortions, legal or otherwise.

2. Half the women who are seeking abortions are married or in committed relationships.

3. Half the women who seek abortions used birth control in the month they got pregnant. No method of birth control works 100% of the time. By age 40, one in every four women in the US will have had an abortion.

That statistic is on Republicans. Countries with mandated sex education classes (no opting out), universal health care, including government funded birth control, and mandated maternity leave have half the number of abortions of Americans, on a per capita basis.

The right keep blaming liberals for abortions when in fact it’s Republican policies that lead to America’s high abortion rate.
