My favorite part is that not only has he already sent a letter to this kid, when he meets him in person he bends down to make sure he can make eye contact with the kid and touches his shoulder in a kind and heartfelt way.

He is a thoughtful, considerate and engaged granddad with his own grandkids and he always does the same with other people's kids.

My brother was in a wheel chair or confined to a hospital bed for most of his adult life and this kind of thing was so meaningful and important to have someone interact and treat you like a healthy person. OH! and that he maintains a normal voice volume and doesn't unnecessarily yell! That was one of the worst things my brother's doctors, nurses or unfamiliar visitors would do. Like I'm sick, not deaf!
