President Donald Trump has signed an executive order saying the United States will designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, a move that could push a militarized agenda for the border and Latin America.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday saying the United States would designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations in a move that could push a militarized agenda for the border and Latin America.

The order highlighted Mexican drug cartels and other Latin American criminal groups like Venezuela gang Tren de Aragua and Salvadoran gang Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), which it said “threaten the safety of the American people, the security of the United States, and the stability of the international order in the Western Hemisphere.”

The order did not list the groups by name, but said Cabinet secretaries would recommend groups for designation as terrorist organizations in the next 14 days. It was among a slew of orders Trump signed Monday to kick off his administration.

It's about damn time!!

This should unify the country with 400 people a day dying of drugs coming across the border. What other group causes this amount of loss of life in the US today?

The drugs given today kill with first time usage and many children die, with drugs being made to look like candy. Just being around them and handling them have almost killed police officers. Your lack of concern is misplaced.

Instead of Joe Biden sending FBI agents into Catholic churches to round up what he calls American's greatest terrorist threat, that is MAGA supporting voters and targeting parents at school conferences that oppose their schools DEI programs, perhaps he should have started with the drug cartels.
