trump is probably the most impulsive human to even sit in the WH. He has once again raised his interest in acquiring Greenland. he needs to pick up a history book and read some background on the country, before he wastes our tax dollar on another one of his real estate boondoggles.

It’s especially fitting that a real estate developer whose properties have declared bankruptcy multiple times is besotted with this particular landmass.

Is Trump the first president to bring up the topic of buying Greenland?

Why does Greenland matter to the US?

Broadly, there are three reasons, related to geostrategy and geography.
Greenland was once a Danish colony and is now an autonomous province of Denmark. It is located in the North Atlantic Ocean, between Europe and North America, across the Baffin Bay from Canada. Its strategic importance rose during the Cold War, and the US has a large air base there, the Pituffik Space Base, earlier the Thule Air Base. From Greenland, the US can monitor and prevent any missile coming towards it from Russia, China, or even North Korea. Similarly, it can launch missiles and ships towards Asia or Europe more easily from Greenland.
Second, Greenland is rich in rare earth minerals, which are used in mobile phones, electric vehicles and other consumer electronics, but also in bombs and other weapons. At present, China is a major supplier of these minerals. In 2021, Greenland passed a law banning uranium mining.
Third, as global warming leads to melting of ice, new waterways can open in the Arctic region, and all major powers are keen to boost their presence here. The US would want to pre-empt a larger Russian or Chinese role in Greenland and its neighborhood.

Just another trump pipe dream that goes nowhere.

he needs to pick up a history book
That’s not going to happen, Trump is willfully ignorant, as are Trump voters.

This is another example of why Trump is unfit to be president – he’s using this Greenland idiocy to cause chaos and controversy, and to entertain his moronic supporters.

Denmark has said Greenland is not for sale... however with safeguards to their sovereignty and mineral rights we could see a larger US footprint in Greenland... lets face it Greenland is a frozen wasteland for the most part... and other than pride there is nothing preventing Greenland from requesting the sale and Denmark granting it with heavy conditions...

The northern shipping lanes will be viable when the earth warms and it is no longer blocked by ice. Having Greenland would secure those shipping lanes and be invaluable. Then we wouldn’t be dependent on the Panama Canal.

But of course leftwing twats are just obsessed with hating anything Orange Man does and must oppose anything he does.

gee discussion about buying Greenland happened 1867. 1910, 1946, and again in 2019..

Trump was president during only 1 of those times.
