The more I think about it the more I'm coming to believe Trump is right again. I think Democrats WILL eventually kill the filibuster the first chance they get so they can pack the Supreme Court and make DC and Puerto Rico states. They need 60 votes the permanently change the rules. They won't get it. I doubt they even have the votes in their own caucus to reach 50 on that.

I am not a fan of changing the rules just to suite either of the parties. For one it would give both of the crazy parties a way to force whatever craziness they want on the American people. For another I can see both screaming about it depending on who has the most delegates.

I agree with Trump that if you’re going to nuke the filibuster, don’t waste it on the Schumer Shutdown, go all in!

Without killing the filibuster entirely, I think it would be reasonable to add a rule to it to allow clean CRs to pass without a 60 vote supermajority. In other words, you can't filibuster a clean CR vote to reopen a shutdown government.

Avoiding this bit of political theater would be good for everyone
