President Trump’s first budget blueprint calls for a $239 million cut to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) despite Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s previous requests to hire more IRS staff and modernize its technology.

The blueprint, released Thursday morning, would reduce Treasury Department funding by 4.1 percent and move funding toward combating financial crime, terrorism financing and economic threats.

Conservative lawmakers have long sought IRS funding cuts, reducing the agency’s budget by $1.2 billion from 2010 to 2015. Conservatives have also sought cuts to the IRS after it was accused of targeting conservative groups that had applied for tax-exempt status with undue scrutiny because of their political affiliation.

um…what does this have to do with 2021? and should every Cabinet member get whatever they request for their budget?

Because they deserve about 8 billion a year to do their job right, and Biden gave to them.

Trump, of course, was looking out for himself.

Trump paid just $750 in federal income taxes in the US the year that he won the presidency and then again within his first year in the White House.

In 11 of the 18 years of taxes examined by the New York Times, Mr Trump paid no federal income taxes at all, the newspaper reported.

Trump or his companies paid $15,598 in Panama, $145,400 in India and $156,824 in the Philippines.

Salon points out Hillary Clinton "served as a senator from New York from 2001 to 2008 — years after Trump exploited tax loopholes to claim a massive loss." But Trump's likely exploitation of One Weird Trick is definitely Hillary Clinton's fault, because why didn't she stop him before she even got into the Senate, huh?

It's amazing on how this story of Trump's supposed tax cuts reducing revenue has gotten around, especially when anyone can just look at the record of fed gov revenue and see for themselves:

What we see is that the last serious drop in fed revenue was w/ Obama and it was a drop that took years to recoup. Trump inherited stagnant revenue increased which were revived by the tax cuts. Sure we had a slight dip because of the covid mini-recession, but then revenue soared thru Trumps last budgec of 2021.

After tax rates become oppressive, rate cuts will increase tax revenue. Imagine a tax rate of 200% of income, how much reported income would you see? Revenue would dissapear. Sure if we had a rate of zero % then revenue would fall and we should be able to agree that there are in fact limits, but we're nowhere near that point.

Defund the IRS, repeal the 16th Amendment. Let each State fund its ratable share of the Federal Government based upon their EV

Lol, your an idiot. The irs estimated Trump's taxes and he paid them. The $750 dollars was for the shortfall of their estimate.

Because they deserve about 8 billion a year to do their job right, and Biden gave to them.
Why do they "deserve" that much if they can't do their job right? But with that said, I am fine with only giving the 8 Billion

WTF?
The IRS 'ESTIMATED", Trump's taxes?

No, YOU estimate your taxes for the quarter.

You're a moron.

so? I am not sure what your point is here. The IRS as well as the State of NY, have never suggest he did anything illegal

So you know...there is that.

And because of Trump's cuts to the IRS rich people are paying roughly $1 TRILLION dollars less than they should be. We don't have enough agents to go after them. And going after Trump to find out where/how he cheated is a lot harder than going after a middle class person so ever since Trump cut the IRS the IRS hasn't gone after rich tax dodgers. Now we will
