The president suggested that government might revoke the licenses of broadcast networks that are “against” him — before he went just a bit further.

We've known ever since he showed up that Trump has an extremely fragile ego, and that he just can't abide criticism by anyone, especially the "main stream media."

Now as president, wanting to be dictator, and with the SCOTUS in his pocket, Trump thinks the time is ripe for an assault on the press and the 1st Amendment to the Constitution of the Unites States.
A Constitution, by the way, that he has sworn on two different occasions, to "protect and defend."

Yeah, right. Trump obviously thinks that as president he can interpret the Constitution any way he likes. With his lack of education and obviously low intelligence, that is a recipe for disaster!
With the SCOTUS backing up an attack on the press by Trump, in the future we will probably be left with only two "news" broadcasters, Fox and Newsmax.

When you apply for a marriage license you're legally and technically giving the state jurisdiction over your marriage. You're saying that you aren't capable of running a houshold/family and require supervision.

You're marrying the state. The state is effectively the head of your household.

For instance, in 1993, parents were upset in Wisconsin because a test was being administered to their children in the government schools which was very invasive of the family’s privacy. When parents complained, they were shocked by the school bureaucrats who informed them that their children were required to take the test by law and that they would have to take the test because they (the government school) had jurisdiction over their children. When parents asked the bureaucrats what gave them jurisdiction, the bureaucrats answered, "your marriage license and their birth certificates.''

None of us has ever "bought" computer software...We purchased the license to use that software, with certain terms, conditions, and restrictions, like not duplicating it and selling it cheaper than retail.

Same model applies for statutory marriage: the State claims dominion (i.e. ownership) over the contractual relationship and issues the license to signify so...This is the reason many states have outlawed common law marriage in favor of their monopoly over the institution...Those with the license then qualify of the privileges (tax brakes and the like) doled out by the state....But they're also stuck with the downside of their children being defacto wards of the State.
