(UPI) -- Vice President JD Vance announced Thursday the creation of a new Justice Department fraud division and an assistant attorney general that will focus on thwarting fraud in the United States and its territories.

The Trump administration said the new division will "combat the rampant and pervasive problem of fraud in the United States," in a press release.

The new Justice Department division and assistant attorney general will enforce federal criminal and civil laws to oppose fraud that targets federal programs, federally funded benefits, businesses, non-profits and private citizens throughout the nation.

The new fraud assistant attorney general has been selected but has not been named, Politico reported.

Vance said the new fraud division and federal prosecutor at first will focus on fraud claims in Minnesota and expand the effort nationwide "because, unfortunately, the American people have been defrauded in a very nationwide way."

Vance said he and President Donald Trump will work with the fraud division's lead prosecutor, who might be announced sometime next week.

Great news.

Drying-up the dem grift streams even further is not a vice.

The level of democrat corruption and tax dollar theft across the nation is stunning.... time to take it all down once and for all....
California makes Minnesota look like a kindergarten class in crime.....

Given the scope and depth of fraud in this nation, this is likely to become the single largest department in the DOJ.

He seems skeered....As well as he should be as it bodes very ill for the dems.
Yeah, when you have to rely upon the liars at MS, the argument is pretty weak.

I am sure it will be completely fair and unbiased in its prosecution of crimes in all the states and not used as a weapon to attack Blue state opponents.
Well, you go where the fraud leads.

Right now it seems to be centered in blue states/cities.

And yes, they are the low-hanging fruit because they were too stupid to hide it. They thought that they could get away with it forever and all they had to do was cry "racism" and have the MSM back them up....That ship has sunk at it's moorings.

Why bother? Trump will just turn them loose if convicted.
Yes, President Trump has pardoned individuals convicted of fraud, including corporate fraudsters and those involved in securities fraud schemes. His use of the pardon power has been criticized for favoring well-connected individuals over victims owed restitution. signalohio.org Wikipedia
