According to the OP link this was not the first time traveling but it might be the first time a homophobic bigot encountered an LBGT passenger. Given the remark about having to come back dressed as a man by the TSA agent it is pretty obviously a case of bigotry that had nothing whatsoever to do with any actual "threat" to the flight or the other passengers.
