Trump Killed a Major Report on Nature. They’re Trying to Publish It Anyway.
The first full draft of the assessment, on the state of America’s land, water and wildlife, was weeks from completion. The project leader called the study “too important to die.”

The draft was almost ready for submission, due in less than a month. More than 150 scientists and other experts had collectively spent thousands of hours working on the report, a first-of-its-kind assessment of nature across the United States.

But President Trump ended the effort, started under the Biden administration, by executive order. So, on Jan. 30, the project’s director, an environmental scientist named Phil Levin, sent an email telling members of his team that their work had been discontinued.

But it wasn’t the only email he sent that day.

“This work is too important to die,” Dr. Levin wrote in a separate email to the reports’ authors, this one from his personal account. “The country needs what we are producing.”

Now key experts who worked on the report, called the National Nature Assessment, are figuring out how to finish and publish it outside the government, according to interviews with nine of the leading authors.

I hardly think it's a mystery why trump would kill a report like this. He wants to continue the deregulatory regime he started during trump 1.0. One that does damage to the environment in the name of almighty profit.

Mr. Trump has also frozen climate spending, begun withdrawing the United States from the main global pact to tackle climate change and launched an assault on wind energy while seeking to expand fossil fuels.

Whether intentionally or not, trump is affirmatively anti-environment. He has a short sighted approach focused on the immediate at the expense of the future. One he won't be around for. The sooner that eventuality is realized the better off the world will be.

This is a minor issue when you realize the federal government is a criminal operation controlled by billionaires and big corporations. We’re in a class war, but the people don’t know it. The billionaires do and they’re winning big.

U.S. politics is controlled by wealth — the number of dollars that are owned and spent on politics — NOT on the number of voters: America is an aristocracy (of wealth) instead of a democracy (that represents the majority of the public). It’s based on deceit (such as this). (America’s war against China is based on deceit, and so is America’s war against Russia — both of which wars, America’s ‘news’-media lie about.) And so, too, is the widely touted claim that today’s American Government is, itself, a democracy, a lie: a conclusively disproven lie. A democracy is controlled by its majority. America’s Government is anything but that. Only the super-rich control this Government.

This bullshit report was financed by the Federal Government, and the executive branch has the constitutional authority to do with it what it wants.

Elections have consequences, after all, berg.

If someone else wants to publish this paper, they can buy it from the taxpayers first because they don't own it, the People do.

That's why Kamala won. She spent a billion more than Trump.

Trump is just a petty spiteful narcissist. He has no core values. He wants to take over Greenland for rare earth minerals but also wants to kill the things we need rare earth minerals for. It is just one of his many inconsistencies. The only thing that is consistent about him is that he wants to destroy anything anyone who opposes him supports.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

that he wants to destroy anything anyone who opposes him supports.

That is actually his best quality

Trump is hardly a "narcissist"

If he was a narcissist, his BFF wouldn't be Elon Musk who is a lot younger and richer than he is.

With all the corruption being uncovered by DOGE there's no way to trust an environmental study to not have been produced with manipulated data to support a predetermined agenda.

That's usually the way these "studies" are done. The conclusion is written first, and the rest is filled in to justify it.

He has a touch of hubris -

Which one probably needs to have to completely turn around a country of this size that the Democrats have tried to destroy.

He has a billionaire being his little bitch. Can't get more full of yourself than that. Besides he is already setting up Elon's departure with the comments about him having other things to do than run DOGE.
