Emmer is proposing denaturalization if a naturalized person commits any type of fraud against the government within 10 years of naturalization. When I see the rules in many other countries, where if you are not a native citizen fluent in the language and of the same race (Japanese, Chinese, Thai, etc.) , you will never be a citizen in those countries, and they really can keep crime to a minimum this way. You break the law, you leave and can't come back.

The U.S. is a nation of immigrants, so the same rule does not apply, however, if you are a naturalized citizen and are found to have lied on your application, why should you be allowed to remain? Or if you defraud the government, why should you be allowed to remain?

This has been either abused or neglected for many decades, reaching peak abuses under Biden, where there was no border enforcement and little attention paid to this, and now Trump is taking full advantage of those lapses, going to the other extreme.
