Today marks 55 years since the death of Jimi Hendrix..........

What are some of your favorite songs by Jimi? My favorites include "Purple Haze", The Wind Cries Mary", "Angel", Foxy Lady" and "Red House".
Little Wing, The Wind Cries Mary, Angel, One Rainy Wish, Voodoo Child (slight return) etc.

He and Jimmy Page are the only two guitarists who make me see colours when they played. Jimi could create those colours in your mind because he was seeing them.

I wonder what he would have evolved (musically) into, had he lived? ~S~
When he turned his back on the Experience he lost his mojo. Sure he had a couple of decent songs after and some were more bass driven but when you have a good band behind you that cannot be replaced. The same thing happened to Janis Joplin I believe.

My guess is he would have continued into R&B and maybe played some guest spots on pop albums in the 1980s just as Eddie Van Halen played the solo for Beat It etc. Would he have continued like the Rolling Stones? If he could have maintained his health perhaps. It would just be the "Jimi Hendrix" show with rotating backing bands I guess.

I imagine the guitar might have maintained a longer influence in music but like most guitarists of that era, he probably would have aged fairly ungracefully and been viewed as just an old guitarist once pop albums and MTV became the thing.

All Along the Watchtower, Little Wing, Hey Joe.
