BLUE EARTH COUNTY, MN — Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz won Minnesota's 10 electoral votes but lost the county where Walz lived and launched his political career, according to preliminary results.

Donald Trump and JD Vance received 18,002 votes (49.6 percent) of the vote in Blue Earth County. Harris and Walz received 17,558 votes (48.18 percent).

Walz and his family lived in Blue Earth County for 20 years. He taught at Mankato West High School before running for and winning a seat in Congress in the red-leaning district.

Minnesota was last won by Republicans in a presidential election in 1972 when Richard Nixon carried the state. Since then, Minnesota has voted for Democratic candidates in every presidential election, making it the state with the longest Democratic winning streak in the U.S.

Donald Trump came closer than any Republican before him to flipping the state red in 2016. Hillary Clinton won Minnesota in 2016 by less than 2 percent of the vote.

Joe Biden won Minnesota by a wider margin in 2020, securing 52.4 percent of the vote compared to Donald Trump’s 45.28 percent, for about a 7-point margin of victory.

In the 2024 election, Minnesota once again remained a blue state. However, Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz performed below Joe Biden’s 2020 results, despite Walz’s connection as the state’s sitting governor.

Harris/Walz won 50.88 percent to Trump/J.D. Vance's 46.66 percent, for about a 4-point margin of victory.

Of course, logic would dictate that you would not waste a good VP pick on the Harris clown show.

They're keeping the "better" ones for 2028.

There are reports that Obama asked Josh Shapero not to take the VP slot if offered so he can run against Newsome in '28.....Makes some sense as Newsome would be another CA infested disaster.

I knew Shapiro would not attach himself as a subordinate to Harris, he would have been crazy to do so. Harris and Walz only path to victory was the "We are not Trump/Vance" angle and there was clearly more needed than just that.

Whatever the Harris agenda was remains largely unknown.

Shocking -- Harris/Walz won Virginia.. 1srelluc 's home State!

Deflect much?

Well, on the bright side the dems under-performed by 5 points compared with 2020 so at least there is some hope for next year in the state races.

Hey if Trump starts a mass reduction in force with the .gov that will get shed of a lot of NOtVA .gov tit suckers.
