Merry Christmas!! 😁
This is scary stuff. I wonder if they're a conservative family as unfortunately with what all is going on right now in the news today that wouldn't surprise me. Thank the Lord they're all okay though.

The thing looks like it has been buried since WW2. Maybe some kid in the Philippines dug it up.

Are you saying that if the kids family was liberal he wouldn't have found the grenade ?
An effective weapon to deploy in combat? No, far too unreliable.Could a grenade still be effective after that amount of time though?
The mechanism looks corroded but that does not mean that the internal workings are totally inactive. The chances of it going off are probably low but why take a chance? The pin is gone but....?Could a grenade still be effective after that amount of time though?

That is a pineapple grenade which means it is ancient!Nope not saying that just wondering. It might have possibly been an old grenade though but I don't know how long they last.
In that case, you are both unhinged.I think CIK is wondering if some lefty made sure that a kid from a conservative family found it? thrown over the fence sorta thing.

Treat every gun as if it is loaded and every grenade as if it is live and you won't kill anyone.Yeah but as whitehall so rudely pointed out it could have possibly been buried underground but I just didn't know much about grenades to know how long their effectiveness lasts.
Fort Lawton was an Army base in the Seattle area some of the land was given to the city after the post was shut down in the 2011. The base has been around since WWII so the grenade was likely lost by a soldier.I think CIK is wondering if some lefty made sure that a kid from a conservative family found it? thrown over the fence sorta thing.

We had a Vietnam Era Artty shell in the house when I was a kid. It was heavy as hell and had no holes in it, but the bottom looked like it could be unscrewed if you had the right tool. No idea whatever happened to it, but it could very well have contained explosives.I bought a box of "junk" at a car boot sale years ago and didn't take a good look inside until I arrived home. In it was a mortar shell; probably Vietnam War era. I examined it carefully and noted that the explosives had PROBABLY been removed but I couldn't tell if the trigger charge was in place or not. I rang the Police who rang Army Bomb disposals. They arrived and though the Army chap was pretty sure that it was defused and the explosives removed he of course could not be 100% certain. he asked the Policeman to take it back to the Bomb Disposal Unit and the very nice policeman said "I'm not putting that in my Police car".
I still haven't had it returned and that was nearly thirty years ago. lol
