Then the judge renders a judgement of convictions, which is when the person actually becomes a convicted felon.
After that, at some later date, they are sentenced

Seriously. Aside from the point that Mitch is a bum who should have retired a couple years ago no longer fit to hold his position, it isn't like the guy's opinion carries any legal weight! I mean, I've listened to lawyers, legal analysts and scholars and even THEY do not all agree on Trump's legal position over a protest that the Fed turned into a riot that started before Trump was even done speaking that he told people to go peacefully to that he tried to stop and happened largely because Pelosi refused to send the people Trump told them to have there so nothing got out of control.
