Those committing physical assaults on minors, the elderly and physically and mentally handicapped, should be given lengthy mandatory prison terms, lengthy enough to where they would themselves be elderly or physically impaired by the time they get out.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but why are certain crimes labeled hate crimes in the first place? At the end of the day, crime is crime no matter what motivates a person to be guilty of it.

I agree that there should be no label of "hate crime.' When someone deliberately beats or kills someone else, they are certainly not doing it out of ambivalence or kindness (unless it's some misguided suicide-pact). So, all violent crimes are essentially, hate crimes.
