Thinking of Switzerland, what comes to your mind?

i think of the gnomes of Zurich

......... and of Swiss cheese
It is the most right wing country in the world, bar none!

They require all their citizens to be trained with automatic weapons and own them, and they have the strictest immigration laws in the entire world. They also have a natural border with some of the highest mountains in the world

But the Left ignores them, but why? It's because they have all their money is Swiss bank accounts stupid!

Common sense neutrality
That's just it.

The Swiss takes everyone's money and has the rest of the idiots in the world fight it out between themselves.

And no one attacks them because all their despots put their money there.

They really have it good there.

I think of everyone being issued a firearm and required to keep it in clean, dry, and serviceable condition.
Well this is the whole truth:

Swiss male citizens are obliged to attend their Basic Training (recruit school, as we say in Switzerland), where they get their personal equipment including assault rifle SIG P550 (or in some cases Pistol SIG P20), when they are deemed able for duty. Until some years back, also a sealed box of ammo was given at the end of each service to the soldiers to take home and fight their way through to the assembly point in case of need. Since the Ammo sometimes was misused, lost, generally was a nuisance (always give back at beginning of service, get it at the end), and the need is not really there, it is currently suspended to give soldiers additional ammo. Until they retire from active duty, every soldier can take his personal weapon home (along with the other stuff) and must bring it back the following year for the repetition courses (3 weeks every year until duty is fulfilled, depending on rank and mostly at something around 32 years old). Also the rifle has to be shot in a yearly test, and you are fined if you miss that.

At the end of your service, you get the chance to buy your weapon at very reasonable price, way below the actual value, if you fulfill these three things: You must have participated in voluntary shooting events apart from what you are obliged to do ( I spare you the exact details, what exactly is needed), you must pay for the modification of your rifle for single-shot only. you must be allowed to buy a gun. Most people I know give back their gun at the end of the service nowadays…

If US Citizens took this much training and care... Yep, that seems acceptable...

They have a full registration of all guns...

It is the most right wing country in the world, bar none!
Nope... Not even close...
They have universal Healthcare, Almost free University fees ($1000 - $4000), highly integrated social safety net,...

Not even close to US.
They require all their citizens to be trained with automatic weapons and own them
Conscription is in communist countries too... It is optional to buy your gun at the end of your service, most don't...
, and they have the strictest immigration laws in the entire world.
Na... I have worked in the country a number of times with no visa needed...
Bit stricter than EU but not by that much, used to be stricter but it pissed off the EU.
They also have a natural border with some of the highest mountains in the world
True... Swiss didn't build the mountains... they would tell you that themselves..
But the Left ignores them, but why? It's because they have all their money is Swiss bank accounts stupid!

Swiss believe in a strong social state and strong labour laws too... They are not like US right...

Swiss are much like EU countries... Actually it varies where you are in Switzerland...

Direct Democracy

Swiss bank accounts

Mountainous with snow

Cheese
The Direct Democracy (well more direct Democracy)...

I was there in 2012 and they were having there one of their 4 a year referendums... They have a votes on a number of topics 4 times a year. This has it's pluses and minuses...

But I can remeber the one vote they were talking about in the pub... Can you hang your washing out on a Sunday? It was against the law, Swiss have tighter laws on what you can and can't do on a Sunday. You need special permission to open a shop on Sunday...
It is not religious, it is about workers right to a rest when their family is off too..

Freedom and democracy - a country more high than wide. I love you Switzerland.

Wir wollen sein ein einig Volk von Brüdern,
in keiner Not uns trennen noch Gefahr.

-----
We want to be a united people of brothers,
no adversity nor danger shall separate us.
Let us be free, as our fathers were,
rather die than live in bondage.
Let us trust in the most high God
and not be afraid of the power of men.
