More creepiness which has been the Canadian way for decades. To those in power in Canada, "they like them young and poor" as I often say...Canadas reputation and economy pays the price.
Stories such as this reinforce Europe and Americas disinterest in us as a nation or the products we try to export.
They say they were terrorized at the military-style academy. Years later, they learned some of their instructors were convicted criminals. Ontario is one of the few provinces where that's possible. https://www.cbc.ca/newsinteractives/features/robert-land-academy.
To 15-year-old Ian Longfield, the man standing before him naked in the woods was someone he must obey.
As the sun set, that man, Mark Boland, told Longfield and five other boys to strip, Longfield says.
Confused, Longfield took off his clothes, even his underwear, standing on them to protect his feet from the frozen ground.
It was a cold spring in 1996 and Longfield was a student at Robert Land Academy — Canada’s only military-style, all-boys private boarding school — in Ontario’s Niagara Region. He was on a month-long road trip out west, led by Boland.
That evening at a campsite somewhere near Calgary, Boland instructed the boys to pick up handfuls of snow and rub it across their skin — bitingly cold on their arms, legs and genitals. Longfield says he reluctantly did as he was told, feeling exploited and vulnerable as Boland watched.
“I’d never seen a staff member naked before and it didn’t seem right,” Longfield said in a recent interview.
“But Robert Land Academy was a place where you did whatever you were told no matter what it was. I was in a constant state of fear and terror all the time.”
