Trump officials halt offshore wind-farm projects over ā€˜national security risks'

The Trump administration has said it is immediately pausing all leases for offshore wind farms already under construction, in the heaviest blow yet to an industry that the administration has relentlessly targeted throughout the year.

Trump’s Department of the Interior said that it was halting the building of five wind projects due to ā€œnational security risksā€. The department said it would work with the US Department of Defense to mitigate the risk of the wind turbine towers creating radar interference called ā€œclutterā€ that could in some way hamper the US military.

Adding to that, here is the bill that was signed today:

The Senate just passed a new $900 billion defense bill.

The Senate voted 77-20 to pass the final version of the 2026 defense bill on Wednesday. The bill authorizes a record $900 billion in military spending — $8 billion more than initially requested in President Donald Trump’s budget.

ā€œThis year’s National Defense Authorization Act helps advance President Trump and Republicans’ Peace Through Strength Agenda by codifying 15 of President Trump’s executive orders, ending woke ideology at the Pentagon, securing the border, revitalizing the defense industrial base, and restoring the warrior ethos,ā€ House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, said in a statement.

So now, the wind is our new enemy and we are spending $900 billion for defense:

Keep in mind the following

The United States Spends More on Defense than the Next 9 Countries Combined

This is getting ridiculous!

Nice try, Lucky. These projects were on their way out during the Biden admin. Try again.

Trump is providing Global Security, supporting allies and maintaining Global stability?

Are you joking? Trump is doing the exact opposite with tariffs, trying give Putin a win in Ukraine, bombing tankers and threatening to leave NATO.

Hilarious video now. This video was likely done before Trump was on the scene!

US has higher GDP than the next four countries, too. You could say that about most any area. The US is by far the most powerful country in the world. We also protect many other countries.

The world is much more stable when each country has a balanced and fair trade agreements. The world was taking advantage of us and the clowns on the left were allowing them.

The world is NOW more stable then it was during Biden's admin. But you know, you clowns want it all and you want it yesterday.

The Kennedys worked hard to get wind farms away from Cape Cod. They didn't want to be inconvenienced by unsightly turbines spoiling their views of the horizon. Notice how these rich leftwingers exempt themselves from the stuff they put everybody else through. This is a hallmark of Marxist leaders.

Yeah, I know, NIMBY is alive and well but that isn't all of it--The NY offshore project that got tons of taxpayer $$ was a democrat political payback to Biden's buddies--just like Solyndra was for Obama.

Up here in Shasta County Ca. we defeated a massive expansion of the unsightly and unneeded Fountain Wind Project .
Yeah, I remember a push in the late 60s and 70s against billboards. LMAO, Wind farms make billboards look attractive. Drive into Palm Springs on I-10. Go over the Altamont on I-580. Cross the Columbia River @ Biggs Junction or go through the Palouse between Walla Walla and Pullman. UNSIGHTLY, inefficient wastes of money.

why didn't you address the expenses and the cut of the wind power

why didn't you address the expenses and the cut of the wind power
Because it hasn't happened, nor will it affect us.

The wind power off shore was not only an eyesore, but a political boondoggle meant to transfer money to Democrat supporters. Money that would make its way back into the Democrat party coffers.

It is in the best interest of the United States that these programs are ended and the leases released.

As is often the case we have to debunk lies from members of The Following before we can move on with a discussion.

Trump halts wind projects, including Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind, Dominion stock drops 5%

The Trump administration on Monday halted Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind, the largest project of its kind in the U.S., as well as four other projects under construction off the East Coast in a devastating blow to the wind industry.

Shares of Dominion Energy, the utility developing the project, dropped more than 5% on the news.

The administration also paused leases for Vineyard Wind 1 off Massachusetts, Revolution Wind off Rhode Island, Sunrise Wind off Long Island and New England, and Empire Wind 1 south of Long Island.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said the administration paused leases for the projects due to national security concerns identified by the Pentagon.

Shares of Denmark’s Orsted, the developer of the Revolution and Sunrise projects, tumbled 11%. Norway’s Equinor, the developer of Empire Wind 1, was down less than 1%.
