Most states have that law on their books.....It's even a question on the 4473.

Where it gets in the weeds some is "voluntary commitment" but any threats of violence should have been reported by the institution's personnel.

Part of the problem is the mental health treatment. Audrey Hale was mentally unstable for a long time, we know this from her journals. However, she didn't become violent till she was given gender affirming therapy and testosterone.

The magic cure is simple. We used to have it in the past.

The cure is, we treat criminals, crazies and dopeheads like what they are. We treated criminals like criminals and seperate them from society and we punish them. Dopeheads and crazies we separate from society and give them treatment by professionals until they are able to rejoin society, and if they can't then they don't ever rejoin.

40 years ago we didn't have all the shootings we do now. Because our society had better morals, values and standards. We did not sacrifice the majority for the few. Crime doesn't pay was a common slogan. We didn't let nutballs run free.

America has never been free of violence and never will be. But 40 or 50 years we had a dramatic lower amount of it and it certainly wasn't as openly common as now. People are still people and guns are still guns, what's changed is that our society went from hard nosed stances on drugs, crime and crazy people to becoming soft and weak. We celebrate and praise criminals now. We encourage people that are mentally ill and indulge their insanity now.

I notice that his only evidence of these statements to a doctor is a tweet. This is not discussed in the rueters article. I am dar from convinced that these statements were made. If in fact these statements were made to doctors then failure to report should indeed cause punishment to the doctor's. I have a hard time believing doctor s ignored such statements. This is punishable by loss of license in all states and likely imprisonment in most. Education to become a mental health profffesinal is expensive and arduous. Very unlikely they would risk not reporting. My sister is a shrink. You make such statements in front of her you can guarantee you will be reported.
