I was saying that I don't see any rational way to argue the Moscow Mitch Trump tax cuts benefitted families of 4 with two working parents earning 75-95K.
The OP was a hodge podge of RW social warfare bs.
But I'd agree that the Obamacare subsidized plans were "a tad" heavyhanded in what plans had to offer.
Well... Many companies openly said that the reason they were investing outside the US, was because of favorable tax rates.
It isn't exactly a secret. Apple specifically said that the fundamental reason they invested billions of dollars into Ireland, as because of the tax benefits.
Now if the difference was 25% verses 20%, that wouldn't be enough to justify investing billions of dollars elsewhere.
But the difference was 35% verses Ireland's 12.5%. That's huge. If you have $20 Billion, a drop of 22.5% in taxes, saves you over $4 Billion dollars you could use to invest, create new products, hire new people, or just give out in dividends to 401Ks and investors. All of which are good for the economy.
And this wasn't some sort of empty-office Panama Papers scheme.... this was real direct investment, and not just Apple computer by the way.
Ireland has gotten an estimated $360 Billion dollars in investment from US companies, this according to the American Ireland Chamber of Commerce. The entire GDP of Ireland is $380 Billion.
And this wide spread investment, translates into real jobs for real people. Apple alone, has created over 6,000 jobs, plus an addition 2,000 more from a new research building they are opening in Ireland, and that doesn't include all the of the supporting businesses that exist because of Apple moving there. Construction, utilities, logistics and so on, that support such large companies.
Your position is extremely short term thinking. In the extreme short term, sure the tax cut didn't directly benefit people at the low end.... unless of course they are like me and have a 401K or IRA. Obviously reducing corporate taxes does in fact increase net profits, which will always result in better dividends. I most certainly did benefit from higher dividend payouts from my stock investments. No question about it.
But in the long term, as businesses change how they invest based on new lower tax rates, we HAVE seen an increase in jobs and investment in the US. And that does certainly help low income people.
Just like Apple creating 8,000 jobs in Ireland, benefits the lower and middle class people of Ireland, so would that $360 Billion in investment, benefit lower and middle class people in the US.
And obviously with lower corporate tax rates, the result will be... and has been... more investment in the US. And that benefits all of us.
